Artist’s Bio

Born in Australia, I have resided in Toronto since 1965.

My artistic endeavour was serendipitous and started in the latter part of the 20thcentury. During a computer course, on my way to becoming a writer, I stumbled upon Superpaint, a paint program, and became fascinated with it. I had to draw and paint objects by hand to enable me to reproduce them on the computer. My friend gave me some of her old watercolour paints and paper, and as they say, “The rest is history!”

Although I paint in all mediums, watercolour is my passion. There is something magical about the medium that fascinates me. Nature provides a perpetual source of inspiration.

My volunteer work, since 2009, organizing workshops, with The Willowdale Edithvale Workshop, has afforded me the privilege of studying with some of Ontario and Canada’s top artist. Many artists, both past and present have been influential in the development of my style, however, I consider David McEown, Charles Reid and Ed Whitney, all watercolourists, as having the greatest impact.
